So much to discover this weekend. That’s why we made a short list of our must sees!
BADBADNOTGOOD – Friday, Annabel, 20.00-21.00
If jazz and hip hop had a baby, it would probably turn out to be these three guys. Well known from their jazzy journeys with the likes of Tyler the Creator and Kanye West, BADBADNOTGOOD is a must see for fans of jazz, experimental music and hip hop alike.
Colin Benders – Friday, Perron, 22.00-23.30
Benders completely overwhelmed The Netherlands as trumpeteer Kyteman. His current career switch involves him playing an enormous modular synth system. His musicality constantly shines through when wrestling the machine. Full live improvised soundscapes and hypnotic techno jams.
!!! (ChkChkChk) – Friday, BAR, 22.45-00.00
What happens when you combine disco, funk, punk, house and afrobeat? It sure makes an interesting mixture of rhythms and moods. When in the mood for some energetic dancing, you should definitely go see them.
Hunee – Friday, BAR, 03.00-06.00
This is your dj’s favorite dj and probably the best disco dj since Larry Levan. He’s also the dj with the very best dance moves. Get ready to drop a sweat when dancing to his smooth transitions between undiscovered disco b-sides, smooth house and banging techno.
Rachel Foxx – Saturday, Annabel, 19.00-19.30
First up on Saturday is new kid on the block Rachel Foxx. Funk infused r&b!
Moses Sumney – Saturday, Annabel, 20.45-21.45
A true star on the rise. Sumney just released his highly acclaimed debut album Aromanticism. A soulful, cosmic embrace of aloneness. On stage with just his voice and a looping station, he uses minimal tools for maximum emotional impact.
Inga Mauer – Saturday, BAR, 02.00-03.30
Inga Mauer is one of the star dj’s in the Strange Sounds From Beyond Showcase in BAR, which will run throughout the night in all three rooms of the venue. Her distinct sound features lots of slow motion techno with deep basses and stabby kicks.
Ben UFO – Saturday, Perron, 03.00-04.30
Highlighted by 3voor12 as the dj that played the best set at ADE this year. Alongside fellow Hessle Audio affiliates Pangaea and Pearson Sound, we are sure Ben will deliver again. When dj’ing he is in total control of the journey he creates, from subtle but deep and lo-fi house to banging techno.
